A Victorian philosophical practice helping thoughtful people live more examined, meaningful, and effective lives.
Empowering Philosophy Pty Ltd was founded on a simple conviction — that philosophy was never meant to live only in the university seminar room. For the Stoics, for Confucius, for Laozi, for Simone de Beauvoir, philosophy was a way of life; a discipline of thought and practice woven into the ordinary work of being human.
Operating from Victoria (VIC 3978), we work with individuals and organisations across Australia to recover that original promise — offering rigorous, tradition-rooted philosophical practice for the decisions, transitions, and questions that actually shape a life.
We are not life coaches in the commercial self-help sense, nor psychologists in the clinical sense. We are philosophical practitioners — trained in the history of ideas, accredited by peer-reviewed bodies, and committed to the disciplined art of thinking well with another person.
As a registered Australian company (ABN 98 696 878 592 / ACN 696 878 592), we operate in full compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Consumer Law, and the ethical standards of the American Philosophical Practitioners Association (APPA).
Begin a ConversationCareful argument, honest distinctions, and primary sources — not recycled aphorisms or platitudes dressed as wisdom.
Real people bring real difficulties. Our work is held with warmth, patience, and the respect every client's story deserves.
We draw on multiple traditions — Western, Eastern, Indigenous, contemporary — and resist the tyranny of any single school.
Clear boundaries, transparent pricing, confidentiality, and honest referral when another discipline is the better fit.
A small, deliberately limited team of philosophical practitioners, coaches, and facilitators — each with advanced training and years of applied practice.
Leads our one-to-one practice and the Life Design programme, drawing on training in Stoic, existentialist, and virtue-ethics traditions with APPA credentialing.
Works with founders, boards, and senior leaders on the philosophical dimensions of leadership, ethical decision-making, and organisational culture.
Designs and facilitates our contemplative retreats and fortnightly reading circles — the community-facing arm of the practice.
Whether you're seeking individual counselling, executive coaching, or a quiet philosophical retreat — the first conversation is always gentle, honest, and obligation-free.
